Hailed by Washingtonian Magazine as the capital’s signature jazz pianist, the incomparable Dick Morgan has been a prominent figure on the national jazz scene for more than a half century. He has been known to bring audiences to reverent silence with ballads like “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” then excite them minutes later with swinging song renditions reminiscent of Erroll Garner and Oscar Peterson. Just in the last month alone he has performed at both the Kennedy Center and Blues Alley. Mr. Morgan has made dozens of recordings with such artists as Julian “Cannonball” Adderly, Etta Jones, Joe Williams, Herb Ellis, and Charlie Byrd.
